Contributing Area

The map below shows the "effective drainage area" of the Battle River and Sounding Creek watersheds in Alberta. "Effective drainage area" is defined as the portion of the watershed that will contribute water runoff to the main stream (Battle River or Sounding Creek) during a flood with a return period of two years.

 

The map below shows manure production within the effective drainage area of the Battle River watershed. It is important to consider the variety of land uses that take place within the effective drainage area of our watersheds because these areas are most likely to contribute water runoff to our lakes, rivers and streams, and with that runoff, pollution.
